…work in a dynamic and exciting engineering role in Linux-based infrastructure and applications, covering all layers of the stack, including bare metal, virtualization (KVM), containerization (Docker/LXC/LXD), storage (Ceph and Linux filesystems), networking (OVS, OVN and Core networking), OpenStack, Kubernetes and the open source applications running on top of them. It will challenge you to show the breadth of your engineering skills, which will be needed to work on almost any aspect of Ubuntu and the open source applications large enterprise customers run.
This role is an opportunity for a technologist with a passion for Linux and open source to build a career with Canonical and drive success for our customers, community and the company. This role deals with critical issues in the open source stack that require upstream bug fixes. Our engineers are able to work productively at any level of the stack including the kernel and in a wide range of languages, to understand and address the software issues at hand. Our group is critical to the success of our customers, partners and Ubuntu itself.
You will help with troubleshooting and driving issues to resolution with workarounds, guidance, and bug fixes to be released upstream and in Ubuntu.
Location: This is a remote role, we have teams in all time zones.
The role entails
- Resolve complex customer problems related to Ubuntu, Kernel, Ceph, OpenStack, or Kubernetes and other open source software
- Maintain a close working relationship with Canonical's Field, Support and product engineering teams
- Participate in upstream communities
- Develop bug fixes, backport patches, and work with upstream for inclusion
- Review code produced by other engineers
- Demonstrate good judgment in technical methods and techniques
- Prioritize work and manage your time effectively against those priorities
- Participate in team discussions to improve processes, tools, and documentation
- Maintain clear, technical and concise communications
- Work from home and travel internationally up to 10% of work time for team meetings, events and conferences
- An exceptional academic track record
- Background in Computer Science, STEM or similar
- Experience with Linux and open source software
- Experience with at least one of Python, Go, C or C++ on Linux
- A drive to learn unfamiliar technology and deep-dive difficult issues

Qualifications

Responsibilities:
The role involves mix of production support (70%) and business analysis (20-30%). In this capacity, you will be required to do functional and technical analysis of business needs, support internal clients, troubleshoot, and diagnose functional and technical issues in the production environment.
- Conduct functional and technical support on Research Website, CRM, Research workflow & distribution system
- Work closely with vendor and global development & application support teams to ensure smooth delivery of functional and technical requirement
- Conduct system Quality Assurance Testing and assist in User Acceptance Test. Perform production deployment and system upgrade
- Analyze business requirement and provide support & solution
- Assist in project rollout and communicate timelines to business stakeholders.
- Management and tracking of daily production problems and user requests, ensure effective and timely resolution and communications to the client. Regular interaction with business users, development teams, infrastructure teams on system related issues and enhancement requests.

Flow Traders is looking for a motivated individual with a strong interest in technology and financial markets to join our APAC Application Support team. The applicant must have an enterprising mind-set with the ability to manage multiple responsibilities and demands. You will be working with highly skilled and motivated colleagues such as Traders, Developers, and System Engineers in order to achieve a common goal.
As a member of our Application Support team, you will provide hands-on support to our traders in order to safeguard the performance and stability of our proprietary trading systems. Additionally, you will participate in projects, advise on structural improvements, and monitor trends within your area of expertise to capitalise on the opportunities afforded by new technologies.
What You Will Do
- Respond quickly to any technical issues affecting in-house trading applications
- Optimize our infrastructure for business needs
- Utilise project- and change-management tools to maintain and configure trading infrastructure
- Analyse and enhance exchange connectivity
- Investigate latency issues and bottlenecks. Collaborate with stakeholders to resolve latency issues and improve overall system efficiency
- Monitor and document trading applications and IT infrastructure
- Collaborate with developers to design new and improved in-house applications
- Working knowledge and keen interest in Unix/Linux and Windows operating systems
- Prior experience in the financial services industry
- Proficiency with scripting languages, such as bash and Python
- Basic networking knowledge (TCP/IP, routing, multicast, etc.)
- Excellent communication skills, with a service-oriented attitude
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with a strong sense of urgency
- Strong organisational, analytical, and problem-solving skills

About The Role
We are seeking a technically skilled and user-focused Application Support Analyst to join the digital team at Kai Tak Sports Park (KTSP) , Hong Kong's largest and most iconic sports and entertainment venue.
This role involves supporting mission-critical systems such as ticketing, mobile applications, and the Venue Booking System (VBS). You will handle day-to-day support and real-time event operations , collaborating with vendors and business teams to ensure seamless experiences for users and event operators.
Key Responsibilities- Provide technical and application support for KTSP's core systems, including:
- Ticketing platforms
- Mobile/web applications
- API Management Platform
- Venue Booking System (VBS) for facility reservations and sports programme enrollments
- Perform incident diagnosis and troubleshooting, working with vendors to resolve issues efficiently.
- Monitor system performance and logs, especially during high-volume periods and events.
- Assist in change management, testing, and release coordination for application updates and patches.
- Engage with internal users and frontline staff to gather feedback and understand workflow needs.
- Identify areas for application and user experience improvements.
- Maintain clear documentation, user manuals, and support procedures.
- Support live events or peak operations as part of an event duty roster, ensuring smooth digital operations.
- Degree in Information Technology or a related discipline.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in application support, IT operations, or technical helpdesk.
- Hands-on experience supporting web or mobile platforms, ideally customer-facing.
- Knowledge of:
- Windows OS, networking basics
- Web technologies (HTML, JSON, APIs)
- Databases (e.g., SQL, MySQL) and application logs
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to remain calm under pressure.
- Excellent communication skills in both English and Chinese (spoken and written).
- Self-motivated with a service-oriented mindset and willingness to learn.
- Ability to work independently and in a fast-paced, event-driven environment.
- Experience with event tech, ticketing systems, or SaaS platforms.
- Exposure to systems like VBS, CRM tools, or POS.
- Knowledge of ITSM tools (e.g., Jira, ServiceNow) or log monitoring systems.
- Familiarity with Agile or DevOps practices.
