We are hiring an Cloud Solutions Architect in our Alliances team to help our biggest partners (companies like Intel, Nvidia, Google, Dell, HP, Accenture, Tata and the like) understand and embrace our open source platform for themselves and their customers.
Our worldwide field engineering team apply expert insights to real-world customer problems, enabling the enterprise adoption of Ubuntu, OpenStack, Kubernetes, AI/MLOps and a wide range of associated technologies. We are experts in the whole open source stack, from kernel to desktop, from cloud to the edge. Our team is also interested in business problems - building things reliably, efficiently and cost-effectively, and we have to learn to speak the language of our customers and their industries.
We help global companies embrace public and private cloud infrastructure, cloud native operations, and open source applications. For this team we are looking for several Alliances Engineers to support OEM (hardware manufacturers), GSI (global system integrators), ISV (independent software vendors), Channel partners and Public Cloud alliance partners. You will support various alliances and partners of Canonical to adopt our products and technologies, help business leaders to define joint go-to-market programs with partners from the technical standpoint.
We often say that our field engineers have 'the hardest job at Canonical' because customers can ask about any aspect of our solutions and products and expect a thoughtful, well-informed answer. We always want to do the best thing for our partners and customers, regardless of our company interests, and field engineers are the people we trust to ensure that is true.
Location : This is a home-based role, we are hiring worldwide.
What your day will look like

• Understand Ubuntu, Linux, networking and services in real-world environments
• Architect cloud infrastructure solutions like Kubernetes, Kubeflow, OpenStack, Ceph, and Spark either On-Premises or in Public Cloud (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud)
• Architect and integrate popular open source software such as PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Kafka, Cassandra and NGINX
• Help partners to offer and architect joint solutions utilizing Canonical's technologies on top of the public clouds and in the data center
• Design and publish joint Reference Architectures and perform technical validations with various partners
• Prepare and run onboarding sessions/workshops with various partners' teams to promote Canonical products and solutions

What we are looking for in you

• Extensive experience with Linux (Ubuntu preferred), Kubernetes, Ceph, software automation
• Experience designing and implementing solutions on top of public or private clouds
• Python and bash understanding, troubleshooting skills
• Fluent written and spoken English
• Excellent communication and presentation skills
• High motivation, ability to multi-task and follow-up reliably on commitments
• Interest in customer-facing engagement, including pitching, demonstrating and understanding customer environment and needs
• Interest in new technologies like LXD, Juju and Snaps
• Ability to travel globally up to 30% of the time
• Degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics or related technical field experience

Basic Qualifications
- Minimum of 5 years in large-scale system architecture design or application development of complex IT solutions.
- Knowledge of the latest technology trends in open-source, distributed databases, containers, devops, real-time analytics, or Generative AI.
- In-depth working knowledge in one or more technology domains such as web or mobile applications, DevOps, Serverless, Big Data, Analytics, Machine Learning, high-performance databases (SQL and/or NoSQL), highly secured workloads, GenAI, etc.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills are a must (English / Cantonese), strong presentation skills with a high degree of comfort speaking with IT professionals and business executives.

AWS Sales, Marketing, and Global Services (SMGS) is responsible for driving revenue, adoption, and growth from the largest and fastest growing small- and mid-market accounts to enterprise-level customers including public sector. The AWS Global Support team interacts with leading companies and believes that world-class support is critical to customer success. AWS Support also partners with a global list of customers that are building mission-critical applications on top of AWS services.
FSI Digital Natives Solutions Architects (SA) work closely with technical decision maker, co-founders, engineers and developers to help them make the most of the Cloud. They are at the crossroads of business and technology and engage with organizations at all stages of cloud adoption. Our Solutions Architects also take a leading role in creating and presenting technical content and best practices.
THE ROLE
You will collaborate with customers, partners and other AWS teams to craft architectures, proof of concepts and demonstrations of our platform that work back from customer's business needs and accelerate the adoption of appropriate AWS technology. You will help shape and design solutions covering a spread of tech concerns like security, tenant isolation in compute and storage, hybrid networking, CI/CD to reduce time to market, rightsizing and auto-scaling of infrastructure, purpose-built databases to name a few. The ability to learn new technology and develop industry relevant architectures and convey business value is critical to the role.

Key job responsibilities
- Work directly with customers to accelerate their projects and recommend best-practice cloud architectures in line with their long-term business outcomes
- Drive technical solutions discussions with your customers, diving deep into the details to solve complex technical business problems and use your knowledge to craft scalable, flexible, and resilient cloud architectures
- Scope and own each customer engagement, with attention towards clear and well- defined objectives and success criteria
- Define and execute on the strategy by engaging highly technical teams (Solutions Architects, Technical Account Managers, Customer Solution Managers and consulting/managed services partners)
- Act as a thought leader in the wider community, playing a key role in educating, sharing best practices, presenting at events, writing white papers, blogs, and running workshops

Basic Qualifications
- 6+ years of design, implementation, or consulting in applications and infrastructures experience
- Experience within specific technology domain areas (e.g. software development, cloud computing, systems engineering, infrastructure, security, networking, data & analytics).
- Experience architecting or deploying Cloud/Virtualization solutions in enterprise customers
- Proficient in English, Cantonese and Mandarin are required
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience architecting/operating solutions built on AWS
- Experience communicating across technical and non-technical audiences, including executive level stakeholders or clients

Join our team as a Observability Solutions Architect, where you'll help redefine how businesses use information in decision-making. This is your chance to lead the evaluation stage of the sales process, serving as the key advisor for Splunk's innovative offerings alongside our sales team, customers, and partners!
**WHAT THIS ROLE GETS TO DO**
+ Competent in showcasing and promote Splunk's products and services through presentations and engaging webinars, both onsite and at industry events.
+ Serve as a trusted Functional Specialist, conveying the value of Splunk's technology and applications to both technical and business customers.
+ Develop tailored solutions by understanding and addressing each customer's outstanding needs and challenges.
+ Build and maintain strong, collaborative relationships with a diverse range of customer from technical staff to senior management, throughout the sales cycle.
+ Lead the technology evaluation phase, independently guiding prospects and customers through technical queries and solution exploration.
+ Respond efficiently and with competence to functional and technical elements of RFPs and RFIs, driving comprehensive and customer-centric solutions.

**MUST-HAVE QUALIFICATIONS**
+ A competent Presales / Technical Sales experience in a software vendor environment with validated results in technical software vendor sales.
+ Able to conduct discovery sessions to understand customer business goals and demonstrate how Splunk can deliver targeted solutions.
+ Experience in crafting detailed responses to RFIs/RFPs, showcasing reliability and technical acuity.
+ A strong teammate who thrives in the technology assessment phase, actively contributing as a crucial technical advisor.
+ Excellent knowledge of Company's overall IT technology. Ability to investigate technicalities when needed to provide hands-on demonstrations.
