Assistant Technical Officer / Technical Support Assistant (Temporary Appointment) (Ref
(Appointment period: twelve months)
Duties
The appointee will provide technical support to the Information Technology (IT) team of the School of Hotel and Tourism Management (SHTM). The appointee will be required to:
(a) provide day-to-day technical support and troubleshooting services for administrative systems, network systems, websites, Content Management System (CMS), research, teaching and administrative software, hardware, network issues and audio-visual systems;
(b) deliver technical support for meetings, seminars, hybrid teaching and online examinations;
(c) offer on-site support and assist teachers in using IT facilities for teaching purposes;
(d) set up and maintain all IT facilities and equipment for the School;
(e) provide administrative support for IT projects, including administration, scheduling, procurement, documentation and correspondence;
(f) assist in inventory control of IT & AV equipment;
(g) support video production, editing, live streaming and related assignments;
(h) assist in High-Performance Computing (HPC), Network Attached Storage (NAS) and other server-based/backend services;
(i) formulate IT-related guidelines and procedures for users;
(j) undertake shift duties (including evenings and weekends) and work overtime when needed; and
(k) perform any other duties as assigned by the Dean of School or his delegates.
Qualifications
Applicants for the Assistant Technical Officer post should have a recognised degree in Information Technology or a related discipline, or a higher diploma in the relevant discipline plus at least three years' relevant experience.
Applications for the Technical Support Assistant post should have a recognised higher diploma in Information Technology or a related discipline, or a diploma in the relevant discipline plus at least two years' relevant experience.
Applicants should also:
(a) have proficiency in Desktop OS, computer applications and IT systems including Windows, Mac, Android, iOS, Linux, Microsoft Office, O365, MS Teams and Zoom, etc.;
(b) have basic knowledge of HTML, CSS and JavaScript;
(c) have good knowledge of graphic design and multimedia development;
(d) be self-motivated and able to work independently and under pressure;
(e) have good communication and interpersonal skills; and
(f) be a good team player with competent interpersonal skills.
Preference will be given to candidates with experience in AV and IT user support services in the educational sector.
Applicants with less experience and/or qualifications may be considered for the post of Technical Support Assistant.
