The Department
The Service Delivery Department is responsible for designing and delivering “IT Digital Transformation Programme”. The Job
You will:
- Define the architecture and technology roadmap for digital workplace solutions to improve the employee experience of the Club
- Lead the architecture, design and implementation of digital workplace end-to-end solutions through various projects
- Ensure appropriate technology standards are adopted and that effective quality controls are in place
- Collaborate with business users and technology leaders to define and implement the technology roadmap and proactive technology refreshment plan to modernize the IT infrastructure in line with the defined EA roadmap
- Creation of architectural design proposals and prepare architecture reports for management and executive teams
- Conduct regular and ad-hoc standards reviews of every architecture component of the digital workplace
- Drive and promote architectural standards and policies 8 Provide architecture advice and assistance, usually definitive, to all levels of engineers and managers
You should have:
- Graduate qualifications in computer science or engineering or related disciplines
- Have 10 plus years of experience in digital workplace technologies with at least 3 years of architectural responsibilities (application or technical architecture)
- Experience and knowledge in digital workplace solutions
- Experience in information systems analysis/design and architecture development experience; consultancy experience in architecture engagements a distinct advantage
- Experience and knowledge in system integration using iPaaS or any middleware technology is a plus
- Ability to lead in architecture analysis, modelling, and design ensuring alignment with business and Architecture Strategy
- Understanding of Enterprise Architecture (EA) concepts and their implementation implications within the organization depending on the maturity of the organization along the EA roadmap
- Sound knowledge of DevOps and Cloud PaaS technologies
- Have current and strong development skills enabling the ability to bring architecture definition to actual implementation
- Self-motivated, able to work independently and under pressure with strong leadership and stakeholder management
- Proficiency in writing, presentation and communication skills
- Proficiency in both spoken and written English and Cantonese
- Professional EA certification (e.g. TOGAF) is desirable but not mandatory
- Strong understanding of SaaS-based workplace technologies such as ServiceNow Human Resources Service Delivery (HRSD), Microsoft 365, and DocuSign eSignature, along with substantial experience using these tools in diverse technological environments
- Strong experience in preparing system architecture-related diagrams, being able to explain the design in detail to different technology stakeholders
- Experience in system integration using middleware technologies such as Event Mash / APIM / iPaaS
- Sound knowledge of cloud PaaS technology such as AWS, Microsoft Azure, and other cloud platforms.

As Principal Manager - Software Architecture & Engineering, you will be a key technology leader within our Digital Engineering organization, responsible for driving software and application architecture excellence and engineering best practices for various projects across both onshore and offshore development teams, and vendors. You will play a critical role in establishing and scaling our global development capabilities while ensuring the delivery of quality, scalable, and highly maintainable software solutions that support CLP's digital transformation initiatives.
This role will lead a team of Software Engineering Managers for software engineering activities to deliver large-scale, complex projects with a focus on high-quality, value-driven software solutions as part of the Software Development lifecycle. Also, be a key bridge between technical teams and business/project stakeholders, ensuring solutions align with customer/project needs and strategic objectives while maintaining high quality, scalability, and maintainability.
This role requires a seasoned engineering leader with deep technical expertise in application architecture and development, proven experience in building and managing distributed teams, and the vision to leverage emerging technologies including AI and automation to enhance engineering productivity and innovation.
Key Responsibilities
Software Architecture & Engineering Leadership
- Support Head of Digital Engineering to implement software engineering and delivery strategy, ensuring the alignment and successful completion following the overall CLP’s digital strategy
- Establish and drive the Centre of Excellence for Digital Engineering, ensuring digital engineering standards and maintaining consistency and quality across all development initiatives
- Continuously lead the evaluation, selection, and implementation of modern technology stacks, frameworks, and platforms for application development
- Champion best practices in software design patterns, application architecture patterns, microservice architecture, and API-first development approaches
- Implement fit-for-purpose delivery methodologies tailored to different project types, complexity levels, and business requirements to optimize development speed and quality
- Work with Digital Leadership Team to adopt Agile transformation for software engineering delivery. Establish and operationalize Agile pod teams to accelerate delivery and improve quality
- Build, lead, and mentor high-performing engineering teams across onshore (Hong Kong) and offshore locations
- Establish clear career development paths and growth opportunities for team members at all levels
- Foster a culture of technical excellence, innovation, and continuous learning within the engineering organization
- Work with Digital Leadership Team for the strategy and lead the execution for establishing offshore development centers to scale engineering capabilities
- Design operating models and governance structures for seamless collaboration between onshore and offshore teams
- Establish standardized processes, tools, and communication protocols to ensure consistent delivery quality across all locations
- Manage vendor relationships and partnerships to support offshore development initiatives
- Ensure knowledge transfer and capability building in offshore locations
- Drive the adoption of AI-powered development tools and automation solutions to enhance engineering productivity and code quality
- Implement and optimize software development lifecycle processes, including CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and deployment strategies
- Establish metrics and KPIs to measure engineering productivity, quality, and team performance
- Lead initiatives to reduce technical debt and improve overall system maintainability and scalability
- Promote the adoption of modern development practices including test-driven development, pair programming, and code reviews
- Partner closely with business, DevOps, security, and other cross-functional teams to ensure seamless delivery
- Engage with business stakeholders to understand requirements and translate them into technical solutions and delivery roadmap, and ensure quality delivery
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Software Engineering, or related technical discipline
- Minimum 12+ years of software engineering experience with at least 5+ years in management roles
- Strong background in enterprise-scale application architecture design and implementation
- Track record of successful large-scale system migrations and modernization projects
- Proven track record of establishing and managing offshore development centers
- Demonstrated experience building and leading high-performing engineering teams of 50+ members across multiple locations
- Extensive experience in managing and uplifting large, distributed teams in complex organizational environments
- Demonstrated experience in establishing and running Agile pod teams with measurable improvements in delivery speed and quality
- Experience implementing fit-for-purpose delivery methodologies across diverse project portfolios
- Deep understanding of modern software architecture patterns, application architecture frameworks, cloud-native technologies, microservices, and integration technologies at enterprise grade.
- Expertise in enterprise software development frameworks and tools
- Strong knowledge of cloud platforms (Azure, AliCloud) and containerization technologies

Is this your next challenge as Enterprise and Solution Architect Lead
We seek an employee to bridge the gap between enterprise architecture vision and practical implementation, ensuring technology choices and project designs align with business goals and architecture principles.
The challenge is to:
- Drive practical implementation of EA policies across cloud, integration, data flow, and application domains.
- Lead high-level solution design reviews, ensuring alignment with enterprise tech direction.
- Involve in major projects or projects without good solutioning team members. Involves from solution design to delivery.
Project Guidance & Design Authority
- Work closely with project teams to shape solutions that meet architecture and policy requirements.
- Act as a design authority, especially for key initiatives (e.g. cloud migration, SaaS selection, critical API integrations, application modernisation).
- Establish reference architectures, solution blueprints, and reusable design patterns.
- Help projects adopt cloud-native, API-first, scalable and cost-effective architectures.
Governance & Compliance
- Facilitate architecture reviews, maintain tech debt registers, and ensure architecture exceptions are managed properly.
- Guide teams to align with data protection, security (with support of InfoSec Team), and resilience policies.
Coaching & Collaboration
- Mentor tech leads and architects, uplift architecture awareness across Group Tech teams.
- Act as collaboration point of solutioning and delivery, for Solution Delivery Teams, BU Tech, Infra, and InfoSec Teams.
Do you have experience in?
Technical Skills
- Strong experience in cloud-native architecture (especially Azure, AWS, GCP or AliCloud).
- Hands-on with microservices, containers, CI/CD , resilience, and observability stacks.
- Solid knowledge of API architecture (REST, GraphQL, event-driven) and real-time integration (Kafka, Pub/Sub, or similar).
- Comfortable evaluating SaaS platforms and managing integration/security architecture for them.
- Familiarity with DevOps, infrastructure as code , and cloud cost optimization.
- Strong understanding of cybersecurity.
Certifications (Desirable)
- TOGAF or equivalent (but not purely academic)
- Kubernetes Administrator or equivalent

Education and Experiences
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, information technology or equivalent.
- Minimum 10 years of experience as an IT professional within the retail, marketing and loyalty functional area.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in solution architecture using modern technology stacks.
- Involved in at least 1 to 2 end to end retail IT project execution, design and implementation. Non-retail project experience with good exposure is also considered.
