We are seeking a highly experienced and results-driven Senior Director to establish and lead our high quality technology delivery and project management. This is a strategic leadership role designed to bring rigor, excellence, and flawless execution to our diverse portfolio of research and technology projects. The ideal candidate is a seasoned leader with a proven track record in systems integration (SI), possessing over 15 years of experience navigating complex stakeholder landscapes, mitigating significant project risks (including delays, quality issues, and supplier challenges), and elevating project management maturity within a technical environment.

Job Responsibilities

Strategic Technology Delivery Leadership & PMO Governance:

  • Establish, stand up, and lead the enterprise PMO, defining its mission, governance structure, and value proposition.
  • Develop, implement, and enforce standardized project management methodologies, tools, templates, and best practices across all research technology divisions.

Qualifications & Experience

Required:

  • A minimum of 15 years of progressive experience in project and program management, with at least 8 years in a senior leadership role (Director level or above) overseeing a PMO or large portfolio. Candidate with less experience may be considered for the position of Director.
  • Extensive background in Systems Integration (SI) is mandatory, with a deep understanding of integrating complex technologies and software solutions.
  • Proven experience managing a multi-million dollar portfolio of projects with multiple, concurrent workstreams.
  • Demonstrable expertise in managing projects for major government contracts and large commercial clients.
  • A strong track record of successfully turning around troubled projects, resolving quality issues, and mitigating significant delays.

Job Location

The Technical Director will work at our Hong Kong office in Tsuen Wan and travel, as needed, to our subsidiary factory located in Nanping Science Park in Zhuhai. This job also requires travel to other locations, including our U.S. headquarters and suppliers located in Guangdong Province and Taiwan.

Job Duties

The Technical Director reports to the group CEO at our headquarters in Austin, Texas, USA. This position has a wide range of responsibilities and duties, as described below. Salary is commensurate with the candidate's work experience, education, management experience, and technical skillset.

Operations Duties

  • Oversee factory operations at our China subsidiary, Virtuix Manufacturing (Zhuhai) Co., Ltd.
  • Continuously improve quality control procedures at our Zhuhai factory, including incoming inspection, production test, and outgoing final inspection
  • Manage supply chain of electronic components, circuit boards, plastic parts, metal parts, and other materials
  • Collaborate with senior management at our U.S. parent company to find new commercial applications for our virtual reality simulation systems and to develop new customers in North America, Europe, and Asia

R&D Duties

  • Set up engineering team at Hong Kong office by recruiting graduates of top Hong Kong universities (such as HKUST School of Engineering)
  • Increase performance and reliability of our products by developing new software and firmware to operate motion-sensor components (such as accelerometers, gyroscopes, and magnetometers)
  • Develop a high-reliability communication interface using differential I2C bus technology (to allow the company's simulation systems to operate robustly in industrial environments where high levels of radiated and conducted electromagnetic interference)
  • Implement industrial-grade wireless communication using Bluetooth Low Energy standard 6.0
  • Investigate techniques of markerless optical motion-sensing using time-of-flight and other principles
  • Develop new products and technology as required by our product roadmap

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Systems Design Engineering or similar field
  • 15 years of experience managing electronics design, including embedded microcontrollers, solenoid controllers, PWM control schemes, and inertial motion sensors
  • 10 years of experience with wireless design, including Bluetooth Low Energy, Bluetooth Channel Sounding distance measurement using Phase-Based Ranging and Round-Trip Time techniques, and proprietary 2.4 GHz protocols
  • 10 years of experience managing factory quality processes, including IPC standards for circuit-board assembly
