We're looking for an exceptional lawyer to join our APAC Employment Legal team to support and help lead our growing businesses across North Asia, specifically in Hong Kong, Taiwan, Japan and South Korea. This role will be based in either Singapore, Hong Kong or Taiwan.
This is a once-in-a-career opportunity to join a global legal team integral to a company engaged in cutting edge technology and focused on solving some of the biggest challenges in the world - including changing the way regulators, courts and legislators think about the future of work.
Your Impact in Role
- Serve as the lead lawyer advising Uber's HR team on the full range of employment matters relating to recruiting, hiring, training, performance management and terminations in North Asia.
- Draft, review and negotiate a wide range of employment documents, including employment contracts, restrictive covenant agreements, assignment letters, separation agreements and policies and handbooks.
- Partner closely with HR and internal audit on a variety of projects, initiatives, investigations and risk management.
- Advise on risks regarding temporary and outsourced workers, including reviewing and drafting staffing services agreements across North Asia.
- Identify and resolve employment related issues regarding Uber's business and its relationship with users of the Uber App in our North Asia markets.
- Handle and advise on pre-litigation disputes and employment litigation, briefing outside counsel where required.
- Closely partner with our policy teams to advance future of work reforms across North Asia.
- Assist M&A teams on employment legal considerations around acquisitions and integrations.
- Collaborate closely with colleagues in tax, regulatory legal, product developers and policy and communications teams to pre-empt employment law risks related to Uber's business, and proactively finding solutions to those issues.
- Extensive employment law experience at a top tier firm and/or in-house with a focus on APAC-wide or North Asia employment law. Employment litigation a plus.
- Confidence operating in a fast-paced environment.
- Flexibility to perform in nimble, rapidly changing and growing markets.
- History of driving efficient and strategic use of resources, including other support functions, in-house counsel, vendors and external counsel.
- Inquisitiveness, along with the ability to spot issues, get to the heart of the matter, and articulate plans to address them.

About the role
We are currently seeking a self-driven employment lawyer with experience in the below areas:
- Advising on employment matters including contentious issues
- Drafting and reviewing employment related legal documentation
- Employee relations and overseeing employment initiatives and internal projects
Key requirements
- A right to work and reside in Hong Kong
- Qualification to practice in at least one of the following jurisdictions: England & Wales, United States, Hong Kong, Singapore or Australia
- Minimum of five years' post-qualification experience at a top tier law firm and/or company in this field
- Strong technical knowledge and experience, ideally with some Asian experience
- Self-starter with a commitment to building a career as a consultant and a drive to achieve at a high level whilst working as a consultant
- Adept at leading or working within complex multi-functional, multi-national project environments
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interface at all levels, building strong relationships internally and externally
- Client service-focused, with exemplary client service ethic and commitment
- Resilient, adaptable, and organised
- Written and spoken Chinese language skills are beneficial

浸信會愛羣社會服務處(於2010年之前稱為浸會愛羣社會服務處),於1978年由香港浸信會聯會,授權香港浸會大學(前稱為香港浸會學院)籌辦,並於1982年成立,正式投入服務。本處初期在灣仔及港島區提供多元化社區服務,經過三十多年的不斷發展,服務地區已擴展至荃灣、葵涌、青衣、長沙灣、旺角、佐敦、土瓜灣、彩虹、沙田及大埔等各區。服務包括兒童、青少年及家庭綜合服務、幼兒學校、長者綜合服務、精神健康綜合服務、臨床心理及輔導服務、綜合就業培訓、餐飲服務、及食物網短期食物援助等,服務對象年齡包括剛出生的幼兒到90歲以上的長者。
Key Responsibilities
- Provide employment counselling and case support services for ethnically diverse clients.
- Planning and implementing employment support services, including counselling, training workshops, group activities and mass program.
- Collaborate with the team to develop culturally responsive services and draft service proposals based on community needs.
- Engage effectively with stakeholders across various sectors to enhance service delivery.
- Rotate between two service centers in Tsuen Wan and Wan Chai.
- Registered social worker with recognized diploma or higher in Social Work.
- Minimum 2 years of experience working with ethnic minority communities; strong English communication skills are essential.
- Proficiency in Urdu, Hindi, or Nepali is a strong advantage.
- Saturday shifts are required based on work needs.
