This role will join a dynamic and exciting team at the heart of AXA HK's business, working alongside the Data, Digital, and Strategy teams to ensure our customers receive the best possible services. The position plays a pivotal role in helping the Data Management and Analytics team deliver AXA HK's Data Strategy. The Assistant Manager is accountable for transforming the strategy into achievable deliverables and deploying those deliverables within the business.

Responsibilities:

Metadata Management Platform

  • Work with business analysts and solution designers to facilitate the capture of metadata as core change and operational deliverables.
  • Oversee the maintenance of metadata artifacts, reporting and escalating issues, gaps, and inconsistencies as appropriate.
  • Evaluate, establish, promote, and oversee the usage of the platform that supports the management and derivation of data artifacts.
  • Identify and champion opportunities to improve the management of models and metadata.

Master Data Management (MDM)

  • Serve as the business owner of the Master Data Management (MDM) system, collaborating with IT stakeholders to support the system's daily operations and drive enhancements.
  • Focus on automation and process optimization to enhance efficiency and support business growth.
  • Evaluate technical solutions and architecture designs proposed by IT counterparts, conducting impact assessments to ensure alignment with business objectives.
  • Develop and implement frameworks and tracking mechanisms to assess MDM system performance and ensure data readiness.

AI Governance

  • Conduct research and analysis on emerging trends in AI governance and industry developments to support strategic decision-making.
  • Perform risk assessments for AI initiatives and develop strategies to address potential ethical, legal, and operational risks.
  • Support the refinement of AI governance policies and procedures to ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations.
  • Develop and implement training initiatives to enhance awareness and understanding of AI governance principles among stakeholders.

Data Project and Stakeholder Management

  • Manage Data Management initiatives and exercises to meet appropriate time, cost, and quality standards.
  • Support the Data Board in prioritizing data projects and validating investments and funding proposals in line with the agreed data scope.
  • Act as a subject matter expert (SME) on the MDM system and other business projects, incorporating Data by Design principles into major projects.
  • Build and nurture deep stakeholder relationships, driving a 'trusted advisor' mindset.

  • Manage Data Management initiative and exercise to appropriate time, cost and quality standards.

  • Support the Data Board to prioritize data projects, validate investments and funding proposals in line with the agreed data scope
  • Act as Data Management and Governance SME on MDM system and other business projects in a consultant fashion and incorporate Data by Design into major projects
  • Build and nurture deep stakeholder relationships driving a 'trusted advisor' mindset

Data Management Evangelist

  • Collaborate with peers across the business to deliver on the overarching data strategy and communicate it through various mediums and forums.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Management, or a related field; a Master's degree in a related field is highly desirable.
  • 3-5 years of experience in working with complex data infrastructure and IT systems.
  • Proficiency in coding and scripting languages (e.g., Python, R) to support data management processes and automation.
  • Hands-on experience in cloud services, database operations, and maintenance. Practical experience in metadata management systems and MDM-related topics is advantageous.
  • Prior experience in AI governance is a plus.
  • Excellent communication and influencing skills, with the ability to perform well in a matrix environment and engage comfortably with senior business leaders.
  • Proven record of delivering and implementing IT projects within specific timelines and to agreed quality levels.
  • Previous exposure to or knowledge of the insurance and financial services industry is advantageous.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Proactive with a can-do attitude.

Our Team
As a team, we are responsible for managing and enhancing ESG-related content for the Bloomberg Terminal and Enterprise products, including company-reported and normalized metrics, key analytical ratios, industry-specific metrics, and proprietary scores. The Role
The Sustainable Finance Data team is looking for a highly motivated individual with a passion for sustainable finance, ESG data, quality, and technology to strengthen our data products by driving the implementation of robust data quality strategies and assurance practices. As a Senior Data Management Professional, you will help develop our business outcome-based data strategies to optimize the value of data for our customers and improve data operations. You will apply your problem-solving skills to design and refine quality control processes, ensure data integrity, and support automation of validation workflows to scale effectively. Additionally, you will measure and articulate the impact of your initiatives using business intelligence tools and data quality metrics. This role offers the opportunity to lead global quality initiatives, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and mentor junior colleagues developing in data quality and stewardship.

We'll Trust You To

  • Define and execute a comprehensive strategy to achieve best-in-class data quality for ESG data, with a strong emphasis on as-reported disclosures and point-in-time accuracy
  • Conduct data profiling and apply statistical analysis to measure, monitor, and enhance data quality across key ESG data sets and products
  • Collaborate with domain experts in Data, as well as colleagues in Product, Enterprise and Engineering, on implementation scalable, data-driven quality solutions
  • Lead initiatives to improve data quality across global datasets, incorporating regional assurance frameworks with a focus on APAC market nuances and local reporting standards
  • Apply a subject matter expertise in as-reported ESG data structures, ensuring accuracy across point-in-time series, disclosure timelines, and evolving regulatory requirements
  • Provide insights and recommendations to enhance decision making capability in business planning, process improvement, and solution management
  • Educate and empower colleagues in industry principles of data quality, in order to elevate awareness, appreciation and application of best practices more broadly
  • Keep up with the industry trends, standards, and innovation in the data quality domain and ESG data standards to continuously refine strategies and maintain competitive edge

You'll Need To Have

  • Excellent written and verbal language proficiency in English and Korean as you will cover Korean content
  • A BA/BS degree or higher in Computer Science, Mathematics, Finance, Economics, Environmental Science, or a related field—or equivalent professional qualifications
  • 4+ years of experience in data quality management, quality assurance, or data governance within the finance or technology industry
  • Demonstrated experience developing data quality metrics, reporting frameworks, and governance processes as part of larger data architecture initiatives
  • Strong knowledge of data management principles, including data modeling, ETL processes, and workflow design
  • Proficiency in data analysis and profiling using tools such as Python, R, SQL, and BI platforms, with the ability to identify data quality issues and generate actionable insights
  • Foundational understanding of statistics and the ability to interpret data to inform business decisions and craft compelling narratives
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, strong attention to detail, and effective problem-solving abilities
  • Proven ability to manage multiple global projects in parallel and collaborate effectively with cross-functional stakeholders

We'd Love To See

  • Strong knowledge and understanding of the Sustainable Finance market and sustainability related topics, with preference for experience working with a range of disclosure frameworks and standards, including but not limited to TCFD, ISSB, GRI
  • Experience profiling datasets and coming up with necessary requirements
  • Good understanding of data modeling concepts
  • Experience manipulating and wrangling large datasets
  • Familiarity with use cases of advanced statistical methods such as Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence, and Natural Language Processing
