Develop or assist in developing scopes of work and engineering design estimates. Ensure conformance to department design standards, procedures and specifications. Provide direction to in-house engineers during construction in quality control of working drawings and on-site implementation. Liaise with Authorities on submission approval and statutory inspections. May have Engineer of Record responsibility.

EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS:

Professional registration in the field of electrical engineering. REW registration is required. Graduate of an accredited school of engineering, with a Bachelor of Electrical Engineering/ Building Services degree. Advanced degree in the field of electrical engineering is desirable. Minimum 10 years of work experience in electrical engineering, with experience in the production and use of contract documents for commercial or industrial projects. Minimum of 3 years managing a team of electrical engineers and designers in the production of contract documents for construction. Experienced in the construction phase with submittal/shop drawing review process and on-site field inspections.

TECHNICAL AND LEADERSHIP SKILLS :

Electrical engineering design and analysis experience in the areas of power and controls. General knowledge of the electrical engineering discipline, including industry practices, construction methods and materials, codes, current technology and the preparation and use of contract documents in all phases of design and construction. Working knowledge of electrical control and low-voltage/telecommunications systems design is desirable. Proficient in the use of BIM technology, Revit and CAD for engineering design, production, and analysis. Ability to work independently with minimum supervision, and to thrive in a highly collaborative, multi-discipline project team environment. Ability to supervise a small team of electrical engineers and designers in the production of construction documents for project of medium complexity through all phases of design.
