Assistant Finance Manager – Financial Reporting
Reporting to the Finance Manager and leading a small team, the Assistant Finance Manager will oversee the financial operations of various service units, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and efficiency. This role is pivotal in driving financial reporting, process improvements, and team development in a mission-driven environment.
Key Responsibilities
1. Financial Accounting and Reporting: Support the Finance Manager in managing timely and accurate month-end and year-end closing processes; Develop and maintain robust internal controls and risk management practices to ensure compliance with government and funder regulations; Oversee internal and external audits, ensuring adherence to all requirements.
2. Management Reporting and Planning: Assist in preparing data-driven financial reports to support strategic decision-making by senior management.
3. Process Improvement: Identify and implement opportunities to enhance operational efficiency within financial processes; Collaborate with cross-functional teams to streamline workflows and propose innovative solutions to management.
4. Team Management: Mentor and guide junior team members, fostering a collaborative, innovative, and high-performing team culture; Promote professional development and accountability within the team.
5. Ad hoc Assignments: Undertake additional assignments as required, such as supporting fundraising initiatives or special projects.
Requirements
1. Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field, with full membership in a recognized professional accounting body.
2. At least 7 years of relevant work experience, preferably in NGOs and/or tertiary institutions.
3. Proficiency in financial software or ERP systems is highly desirable.
4. Prior working experience in an audit firm and proficiency in business intelligence software is an advantage;
5. Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
6. Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a mission-driven environment, diligent and well organized.
7. Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and effective problem-solving abilities.
8. Self-motivated, organized, and capable of working independently and collaboratively in a mission-driven environment.
